Internet service is easy to overlook until a move is close, but remote work, streaming, security systems and connected-home equipment can make setup timing important. Fort Collins has a municipal fiber option called Connexion, and availability depends on the exact address and type of property.
This Fort Collins Connexion internet guide explains how to check service, compare the current residential options and prepare for installation. Prices and program terms can change, so use the official links below to confirm details before ordering.
Check the exact address before comparing plans
Connexion says its main Fort Collins build-out is complete, but that does not mean every address or building is ready for activation. Start with the official service availability page or contact Connexion with the exact address.
The provider’s How to Get Connexion guide says detached homes within Fort Collins city limits can sign up for service. Homes with a Fort Collins mailing address are not always inside the municipal boundary, so do not use the city name in the postal address as the only test.
For an apartment, condo or townhome, check the individual building. Connexion explains that if a multi-unit property is not yet connected, the property manager or HOA may need to complete a Right of Entry form before installation can begin. Buyers and renters should ask both Connexion and the property representative about the building’s status.
Compare the current residential plans
As of October 30, 2026, Connexion’s residential plan page lists three internet tiers:
- Classic: 1-gig symmetrical service for $70 per month. - Enhanced: 2-gig symmetrical service with SmartHome Wi-Fi features for $100 per month. - Premier: 10-gig symmetrical service with multi-gig Wi-Fi for $200 per month.
The page states that the plans have no residential contract, include unlimited data and include installation and Wi-Fi equipment. “Symmetrical” means the advertised upload and download speeds are the same. That can matter for large cloud backups, video calls, uploading media and other activities that use significant upstream capacity.
Do not select a tier from the headline speed alone. Review Connexion’s current Broadband Facts labels for typical performance, fees and plan terms, then consider the devices, wired network equipment and Wi-Fi coverage in the actual home. A fast service plan cannot by itself correct a weak Wi-Fi signal in a distant room.
Understand the two installation stages
Connexion’s installation guide describes a two-step process. First, a crew brings fiber from the network in the street to a small box on the side of the home. Connexion says the resident generally does not need to be home for this pre-installation work.
The second stage brings the fiber into the home and sets up the equipment. Connexion asks for someone age 18 or older to be present, pets to be secured and access to possible work areas—such as the attic, crawl space or basement—to be clear. Renters should notify the landlord or property manager before installation.
Think about equipment placement before the appointment. Connexion recommends a central location for Wi-Fi coverage and says customers can discuss a preferred entry point with the technician. If the home has an office, structured wiring panel, Ethernet runs or unusually thick walls, show those features to the installer before the final location is chosen.
Build internet setup into the moving timeline
Check availability as soon as the address is under serious consideration, but coordinate activation with the possession date and the provider’s current scheduling options. Do not assume an existing exterior fiber box means active service is ready in the name of a new occupant.
A practical setup list includes:
- Confirm the complete service address and whether it is inside city limits. - Ask whether the home or multi-unit building is currently serviceable. - Choose a plan after reviewing the current Broadband Facts label. - Schedule around closing, possession, lease dates and any required property permission. - Decide where the equipment should be placed and clear technician access. - Keep existing service active until the new connection has been tested if uninterrupted access is essential.
Existing customers who are moving should use Connexion’s current transfer or stop-service process rather than assuming equipment or billing automatically follows them to the next address.
Check income-qualified service separately
Fort Collins’ Get FoCo portal lists a reduced-rate Connexion program for qualifying residents. At the time of this guide, the portal describes 1-gig internet with wireless service for $20 per month and explains that applications are accepted throughout the year.
Eligibility and documentation requirements belong to the City program, so review the current portal rather than relying on an old advertisement or secondhand description. A discount program is separate from confirming that the address is serviceable.
Put internet in the larger relocation plan
Connectivity is one item in a complete address review. Also confirm utilities, school information selected by the household, commuting options, HOA rules, parking, property condition and any home-office improvements that may require permission or permits.

No universal assumption is safe. Connexion says its main build-out is complete, while work continues to serve additional apartments, condos and townhomes. Check the exact address.
Does Connexion require a residential contract?
The current residential page states that its listed internet plans do not require a contract. Confirm the terms shown when you order.
Is the router included?
